Battery / background location for Move

Move active tracking needs Location When In Use, and Always for background tracking on supported native builds.

Background GPS should not be assumed in Expo Go; use a proper native/dev build.

In the app

Body → Train → MOVE · system Location settings

Steps

    Use a native build

    Install a development or production build that supports background location.

  2. 2

    Grant Always location if you need background

    When In Use covers foreground sessions; Always is required for background continuation.

  3. 3

    Watch active stats

    Confirm Time, Distance, and Elev. gain update, then Finish when done.

  4. 4

    Battery tip

    Long hikes with Live share On and Route directions use more power; turn Live share Off if you need to conserve battery.

Tips

  • Offline GPS can still track even when tiles are blank.
  • Auto-pause is available in Move options if stops are creating noisy tracks.
